Happy Valentine's Day!

This valentine is from the Academy of American Poets. Check out their other poetry valentines and add a poem or two to your celebration of love today.

Whether you share today with a special valentine, share memories that warm your heart, or cherish dreams of yet-to-be, may you remember that love is larger than romance. May you love and be loved this day and every day.

Happy Valentine's Day, Janga! Here's hoping the day brings you something sweet - whether it's time spent with someone special, a chocolate delicacy or a good book.

The poetry site is fun. I spent a while surfing and found lots of cute little gems. Thanks!

Thanks, Irish. I think almost every day brings me a good book. I'm excited now about a belated Valentine gift from Avon--an egalley of Eloisa James's second generation romance With This Kiss. I can't wait to read it.

I'm glad you like the poetry site. It's one of my favorite sites. I visit often and always find a new poem to enjoy.

Janga, I was looking through a collection of love poems hoping for something astronomical when I came across this jem by Edward Bulwer.

I loved it ... and hope you like it too! *smile*

WHEN STARS ARE IN THE QUIET SKIES.

When stars are in the quiet skies,
Then most I pine for thee;
Bend on me then thy tender eyes,
As stars look on the sea!

For thoughts, like waves that glide by night,
Are stillest when they shine.
Mine earthly love lies hushed in light
Beneath the heaven of thine.

There is an hour when angels keep
Familiar watch o'er men,
When coarser souls are wrapped in sleep —
Sweet spirit, meet me then!
There is an hour when holy dreams
Through slumber fairest glide,
And in that mystic hour it seems
Thou shouldst be at my side.

My thoughts of thee too sacred are,
For daylight's common beam;
I can but know thee as my star,
My angel, and my dream!
When stars are in the quiet skies,
Then most I pine for thee;
Bend on me then thy tender eyes,
As stars look on the sea!
