Fast Forward to Fall

The  calendar says September, the kids are back in school, and the weather forecasters are promising temperatures in the mid-80s next week. Even though officially the first day of fall is still weeks away (September 23), all the signs in my world tell me the season has begun. I’m ready for it. Fall is my favorite season, and after a hot summer that started in May, I’m even more eager than usual for cooler days, football weekends, and lower utility bills. I’m also eager for the books of fall.

I confess that I’ve rushed the season a bit. I’ve already read three September releases and have begun a fourth. I’ve even started Christmas reads with Sherryl Woods’s An O’Brien Family Christmas (already reviewed here), Toni Blake’s Holly Lane (Destiny #4), and Robyn Carr’s Bring Me Home for Christmas (Virgin River #16). Reviews for the latter two are forthcoming. But that means I still have over fifty books that I will be adding to my TBR mountain over the next few months. I’m fudging a bit by including the December 27 releases on my list. Technically these are winter books, but seeing them here makes their release dates seem closer.  I should also add the caveat that this is a list of books from my personal book calendar, mostly books by my auto-buy authors; it is far from a comprehensive list.

Delighted to see that Susan Mallery has more 'Fools Gold' books. I have read the first three and want the rest when available as e-books.

Likewise Robyn Carr's Virgin River series. It's the longest series that I have read and the one that has totally hooked me. I shall wait for the audio versions though.

Actually I'm also feeling that I need a little more romantic fantasy in my life. I think I might look at Sharon Shinn again, her 'Twelve Houses' series perhaps, unless you have a recommendation Janga.

books I am eagerly waiting for:
I have Carr's 'A Virgin River Christmas' in audio format for Mrs Q to put in my stocking. It's going to be a struggle to wait that long though! *grin*

Great minds... and all that, Janga. I just started jotting down all my fall TBB books. I must say, your list is much much longer! LOL I think every one I have on my list is on yours, though.

The wait is definitely killing me for some of them - Kate Moore's, Eileen Dreyer's, Elizabeth Hoyt's and Joanna Bourne's.

Very happy to hear about Carla Kelly's ebook releases.

Q, I think we are going to see more Fool's Gold books beyond the six. The most recent three are the stories of the Hendrix triplets: Only Mine--Dakota; Only Yours--Montana; and Only His--Nevada. Their mother has her story woven through the three books.

I'm with you on the Virgin River books, and I'm looking forward to more of them in 2012.

Irish, I'm really looking forward to the books from Kate Moore, Eileen Dreyer, Elizabeth Hoyt, and Joanna Bourne too. I'm also really eager to read the first of Nora Roberts's new series and Eloisa James's version of the Princess and the Pea. Has a romance author ever wriiten a version of this particular fairy tale before?

Great list, Janga! I always check your lists to see if I've missed any books on mine and, sure enough, I had!;-)

I've already read advance copies of some of these books and they are *so very good*!

I'm looking forward to getting my hands on the next two historicals in the trilogy from Maya Banks. The first book, IN BED WITH A HIGHLANDER (a Sept. release), went straight to my keeper shelf.

Janga, I'm trying to avoid thinking of gray, rainy days. Looking out at the warm, sunshine, I'm trying to keep this memory alive in my mind for those dark, dank days coming up for us for the next ten months.

Janga & PJ: Isn't "Because You're Mine" by Lisa Kleypas coming out in November?

PJ, I made a note about Maya Banks's IN BED WITH A HIGHLANDER after I read your review. I've heard nothing but good things about it.

I'm working on a couple of reviews of ARCs today, both books I loved. I think we all have many hours of good reading to look forward to this fall.

Keira, it's gray and overcast with light rain here today, and I'm enjoying it. But I know we'll have sunny days all through the fall and winter. I'd suffer dreadfully from SADD if gray days were our norm.

Kleypas's Because You're Mine is a reissue of a 1997 release. No new LK books for 2011! The good news is that we can look forward to three new Kleypas releases--all Lucky Harbor books--in February, August, and October of 2012. The bad news is that they won't be mass market paperbacks, so they'll be a bit pricey.
