I agree she has created some superlative ones.Jangahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15128188159653860806noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8192776379752748640.post-37489388762619675142011-08-18T15:42:45.445-04:002011-08-18T15:42:45.445-04:00I haven't read Maggie Osborne, but her heroine...I haven't read Maggie Osborne, but her heroines sound fascinating and well worth exploring further!

Lilian Bowman, The feisty American heroine of Lisa Kleypas's 'It happened one Autumn' is very unusual and a favourite for me as she struggles to understand the traditions of English aristocracy. Her rich parents want her to marry an English lord but she can't resist speaking her mind and behaving in ways which seem quite outrageous to the traditional upper crust, but are entirely logical to her. A highlight for me comes when she uses a hair pin to pick the lock on a handcuff and escape the evil rake Lord St. Vincent as he carries her off to Gretna Green in order to wed her for her fortune. Fortunately Lord Marcus has fallen for her charms by then and rescues her in time to ensure the HEA.

Come to think, Kleypas's Hathaway family also has some amazing heroines.

Heck, now I'm thinking that it's quite difficult to think of a 'usual' heroine!
